All About Your First Massage Session

Not Sure What to Expect During Your 1st  Visit?

Your Arrival:
- new clients
are asked to arrive 15mins before your scheduled appoint as your visit will begin with the completion of a client Health History & Consent Form

*Please do not arrive much earlier than this as I do not have a formal waiting area to accommodate multiple guests

- all client information is kept confidential in accordance with the law

- a complimentary consultation is conducted, if not completed over the phone before hand

- a brief discussion of your health history and purpose of your visit will aid in developing a customized session

-when running late for your appointment, you will be treated for the remainder of your session should time permit.

My Cancellation Policy:
-missed appointments and cancellations without 24hr notice maybe charged the full session fee

The session:

-depending on the type of session an essential oil blend may be prepared for you

-you are brought into the massage studio where you are informed what will take place for your session: how you are to be positioned on the table, how your session will begin, draping and clothing

- for a hot stone session you'll be informed on what you'll experience with the hot stones; how the water temperature is monitored for your safety and other cautions

- verbal consent to begin will be asked and the right to terminate your session is discussed

- I will then exit the room to allow you to prepare yourself to your level of comfort and to take-in any scents & sounds as you begin to unwind for your session

- Reiki and Thai Yoga Massage sessions: clients remain fully clothed, only removing metal objects such as all jewelery; belts and shoes

-Upon my return, I will assist you in making any adjustments necessary to improve your comfort, i.e. adjust head cradle, move bolsters or pillows, etc

-a hot stone session begins with warm stones being placed to rest on key ares of the body promoting relaxation and to begin melting tension away

-Reiki clients are asked to initially focus on what benefits you would like to achieve from their session, whether mentally, emotionally or physically; while you transition to a relaxed state

-during a hot stone session you are massaged with the stones on oiled skin; it is normal for the practitioner to break contact from the client from time to time to replace the cooled stones with warm stones from the heater; some clicking from the stones does take place during a massage but is kept to a minimum and
heated stones may be left in place as I use my hands to incorporate other techniques

- as each client's preference and tolerance level is established firm-pressured massage techniques can be incorporated as need. (i.e. trigger points, muscle stripping and joint distraction, resistant stretches)

- during a Reiki session, the practitioner will work with their hands over the body or with a "laying-of-hands on" approach; it's your preference; Chakra stone will be placed over key energy meridians known as Chakra points on the body

- during a Thai Yoga Massage session, you are carefully transitioned in to Yoga position, while you are on the massage table. This session requires the practitioner to gain leverage for some positions while on the table with you. (traditional Thai yoga is performed on the floor)

- during a any massage session all areas of the body will remain covered with a sheet & blanket while only the area of the body being worked on will be uncovered during the massage

- there may be a point during the session where you will be asked to turn over; precautions are taken in doing so

- communication is extremely important, feel free to share any concerns or questions as they come to you; as well please comment on my pressure, have me address more attention to a particular area or alter the temperature of the stones. All this will help me as your practitioner in treating you safely and effectively during your session

-you are asked to take care in getting off the table;
in the event you feel light headed you are asked to sit for a few moments while hanging your legs off the edge of the table before hoping down ; assistance can be provided if needed

End of session:
- when your session is complete I will offer water to you as I share any findings, discuss a health care plan, or if necessary refer you to an alternate health care provider

- home care advice such as stretches/exercises and natural remedies will also be offered to enhance the effects achieved during your session

- if you had a customized aroma oil blend created you are able to take the remaining oil home with you to enjoy

- and of course there is always an opportunity to book your next appointment before you leave

- as a new client, or a client who hasn't be in for a session in a while, you will receive a follow-up call or e-mail within 48hrs of your session where you can share with me any +/- results and I can address other questions or concerns you may have

Safety for You and Me

-
my massage table always gets sanitized and dressed with fresh lines after each and every client ... doesn't matter if the client before you was your spouse, your relative or your best friend

- the massage stones are always scrubbed with soap and disinfected after each and every use; yes every stone ...no, not always fun for me ...and pretty time consuming actually but you count on them being clean for your session ;o)

- the water for the hot stone unit is replaced with fresh water for every each and every client ...doesn't make sense to got through all the work scrubbing stone only to put them back into dirty water ...nope not one bit ;o)

- the removable container is disinfected as well

- I will not treat you if I am sick, nor will I treat you if you are sick with a severe cold, have a fever or are experiencing flu-like symptoms ...kinda defeats the purpose of your session

- I will not treat you with a contagious skin disease ie) shingles

Arrival Times
- just a reminder all clients are asked to arrive 15 mins prior to their appointment time in order to complete their health history forms; as well a essential oil blend can be prepared for you during this time

-Please do not arrive earlier than 20min, as I do not have a formal waiting area to accommodate multiple guests

A Pet Friendly Home
- our dog Ballou and our cat Mayia are never allowed in the massage studio

- Ballou loves visitors and he is very social guy, however he will be crated for the arrival of new clients and for their comfort
